Be You Be Free is a body positive space. We are a supportive and non-judgmental community for all women of all shapes and sizes. We do not focus on weight loss, transformations, or diets. We focus on fun and sustainable health and well-being behaviours such as self-care, body respect, fun exercise, work-life balance and mindfulness amongst others

Through our wellbeing and fitness programs, workshops and retreats, I help women have fun with exercise, find food freedom, build confidence and respect in themselves, and create a fun, practical and balanced approach to their health and happiness in a supportive, comfortable and non-judgemental community.

My outdoor fitness groups are not just about fitness, but about being part of a supportive and comfortable and non-judgemental community of like-minded women. MY STORY

Seven years ago, I was diagnosed with depression, anxiety and an eating disorder. I never thought it would happen to me, but it did. Looking back now, I realise it was the turning point in my life and I’ve come out the other side feeling better than ever.

I want to share my experience and journey with you as I believe I went through this for a reason; and that reason is to help other women who may be struggling with diets, restriction, confidence and unhappiness to help them live a happy, free and healthy life.

It started ten years ago when I was asked to be a bridesmaid for one of my friends. I was unhappy with my body and I had already spent years on ‘diets’ that didn’t work. I dreaded having to wear a bridesmaid dress, and broke down in tears in the changing room after being measured. I couldn’t go on feeling that way anymore and I decided to go on one more diet, but this time I was determined not to "fail". 

I found a calorie counting app and started eating a dangerous amount of low calories each day as well as overexercising. After 9 months, I had reached my ‘goal weight’, but it didn’t stop there. I just kept going and going. It was never enough. I can’t even find the right words to explain the pain, the loneliness and fear. I was consumed by thoughts of food, exercise and weight. Nothing else mattered.

And then it started - the restricting, the over-exercising, the binge eating, the guilt and the shame. I knew I needed help.

"I KNEW I NEEDED HELP"

I started a very long and difficult path to recovery. It is undoubtedly one of the hardest things I have been through and I was nearly hospitalised during the process. I discovered natural therapies and educated myself on health and well-being in order to recover.

For the first time in my life, I started to listen to my body and I stopped dieting and over-exercising. I learnt to accept myself and be myself. And here I am today – happy, healthy and living a fun life. 

I now see the experience as a positive  journey, as I wouldn’t be the person I am today if I hadn’t gone through it. All I want now is to help others who may be going through a similar journey so they can feel as good as I do today.

My experience and passion to help others inspired me to set up Be You Be Free and train as a Personal Trainer and Wellness Coach and obtain a Graduate Certificate in Wellness.

My mission is life is to help all women create a happy, healthy and fun life so they can lives their lives the way they are meant to.
